Hanksugi Tire Warranty & Guarantee

Every Hanksugi commercial truck tire is backed by a comprehensive warranty covering workmanship quality and casing integrity for retreading.

Warranty Overview

Hanksugi stands behind every tire we manufacture. When you invest in Hanksugi commercial truck tires, you are purchasing more than rubber and steel. You are purchasing a commitment to performance, durability, and long-term value that is backed by one of the most comprehensive warranty programs in the commercial tire industry.

Our warranty program is designed around two core pillars that reflect the priorities of fleet managers and owner-operators who depend on their tires for revenue generation: manufacturing quality and casing longevity. Together they provide complete protection across the entire lifecycle of a Hanksugi tire, from the first mile on a new tread through multiple retread cycles.

Unlike many tire manufacturers who offer limited or narrowly defined warranties, Hanksugi provides warranty coverage that extends to the casing itself. This is a critical distinction because a truck tire casing represents roughly 60% of the total tire cost. A warranty that only covers the original tread life ignores the most valuable asset in the tire -- the casing that can be retreaded two or three times to deliver additional service life at a fraction of the cost of a new tire. Hanksugi's casing warranty protects that investment.

Workmanship Warranty

Covers defects in materials and manufacturing for the life of the original tread or five years from purchase, whichever comes first. Includes tread separation, belt edge separation, sidewall failures, and bead defects attributable to manufacturing.

Casing Warranty

Hanksugi guarantees that casings sold in the USA and Latin America are retreadable for at least 2 retread cycles. Casings sold in Canada are guaranteed for 3 retreads. This is a casing integrity commitment unmatched in the industry.

What Is Covered

The following conditions are covered under the Hanksugi tire warranty when they occur during normal commercial truck tire service:

  • Manufacturing defects -- Tread separation, belt edge lifting, ply separation, or sidewall cracking caused by defects in materials or workmanship
  • Bead defects -- Bead wire breakage, bead seating failures, or bead area cracking attributable to manufacturing
  • Casing integrity for retreading -- Casings that fail retread inspection due to internal structural issues not caused by external damage, overloading, or improper inflation
  • Rolling resistance performance -- SmartWay verified HS68 and HS66 tires are warranted to deliver the rolling resistance performance specified at the time of certification
  • Tread compound defects -- Premature chunking, cracking, or compound deterioration not attributable to environmental exposure or chemical contact

What Is NOT Covered

The following conditions are excluded from warranty coverage as they result from external factors beyond manufacturing control:

  • Overloading -- Operating the tire beyond its rated load capacity as indicated on the sidewall or in published load tables
  • Improper inflation -- Running the tire at pressures above or below the recommended inflation for the actual axle load
  • Road hazard damage -- Punctures, cuts, snags, impact breaks, or bruises caused by nails, debris, curbs, or potholes
  • Mechanical damage -- Irregular wear caused by misalignment, faulty suspension, bent rims, or improper mounting and dismounting
  • Abuse and misuse -- Tire spinning, burnouts, dragging, or use in applications the tire was not designed for
  • Chemical exposure -- Damage from petroleum products, solvents, acids, or other chemicals that degrade rubber compounds
  • Unauthorized repairs -- Repairs performed by unqualified personnel or using methods not approved by industry standards
  • Cosmetic conditions -- Surface crazing, weathering, discoloration, or minor surface imperfections that do not affect tire performance or safety

How to File a Warranty Claim

Filing a warranty claim with Hanksugi is a straightforward process. We have designed the claim procedure to be as simple as possible while ensuring that every claim receives a thorough and fair evaluation. Most claims are resolved within 5 to 10 business days of receiving complete documentation.

  1. Retain the Tire Do not discard or destroy the tire. The physical tire must be available for inspection. If the tire has been removed from the vehicle, store it in a dry location away from direct sunlight and petroleum products. The tire serial number (DOT code) on the sidewall is required for processing.
  2. Contact Your Dealer or Hanksugi Directly Reach out to the authorized Hanksugi dealer where you purchased the tire, or contact Hanksugi USA directly at +1 (561) 340-9030 or juan@hanksugi.com. Provide the tire model, size, and DOT serial number when initiating the claim.
  3. Gather Documentation Prepare the following: proof of purchase (invoice or receipt showing date, model, and price), tire serial number (DOT code), photographs of the tire showing the defect or wear condition from multiple angles, and vehicle maintenance records including alignment reports and inflation pressure logs.
  4. Submit for Evaluation Your dealer will submit the claim to Hanksugi with all supporting documentation. If filing directly with Hanksugi, email or mail the documentation to our warranty department. In some cases, a Hanksugi representative or certified tire inspector may need to physically inspect the tire.
  5. Receive Determination Hanksugi will evaluate the claim and issue a determination. Approved workmanship and casing claims receive a credit that can be applied toward a replacement Hanksugi tire through your authorized dealer. Denied claims include a detailed explanation of the findings.

Warranty Terms by Tire Model

Each Hanksugi tire model carries the same workmanship and casing retread warranty terms. The table below summarizes the casing retread guarantee and workmanship coverage period for each model in the USA product lineup.

Model Application Casing Retreads (USA/LATAM) Workmanship Period
HS88 Long Haul Drive 2 retreads guaranteed 5 years

Note: Warranty terms apply under normal commercial truck tire operating conditions including proper inflation maintenance, correct load management, vehicle alignment within manufacturer specifications, and use in the intended application. Canadian casings carry a 3-retread guarantee.

Retread Warranty: Engineered for Multiple Lives

One of the most significant advantages of choosing Hanksugi tires is the retread warranty. While many tire manufacturers produce tires that can be retreaded, Hanksugi is one of the few that formally guarantees casing retreadability as part of the warranty program.

Every Hanksugi casing is engineered with retreadability as a design objective, not an afterthought. This means the steel belt package, the under-tread gauge, the sidewall construction, and the bead area are all designed to withstand the thermal and mechanical stresses of multiple retread cycles. The high-tensile steel belts maintain their structural integrity through the buffing process, the rubber compounds resist heat degradation during the curing cycle, and the casing geometry remains dimensionally stable across retreads.

Regional Retread Guarantees

USA & Latin America

2 retreads guaranteed on every Hanksugi casing. If a casing fails retread inspection before completing its second retread cycle due to a manufacturing defect, the casing warranty provides a prorated credit toward a new Hanksugi tire.

Canada

3 retreads guaranteed on every Hanksugi casing sold in Canada. Canadian fleet operations demand the highest casing quality standards, and Hanksugi tires exceed those requirements with an additional guaranteed retread cycle.

The economic impact of the retread warranty is substantial. A retreaded tire costs approximately 30-40% of a new tire while delivering comparable service value. Over two retread cycles, a single Hanksugi casing can deliver multiple service cycles of its original tread life, reducing the fleet's cost per mile by more than 50% compared to running new tires exclusively. The retread warranty ensures that this economic advantage is protected by the manufacturer.

To maintain retread warranty coverage, remove tires for retreading before the tread wears past the wear indicators, maintain proper inflation pressure throughout the tire's service life, and use a qualified retread facility that performs non-destructive casing inspection (shearography or equivalent) before retreading. Casings that have been damaged by overloading, under-inflation, road hazards, or improper mounting are excluded from the casing retread warranty.

SmartWay Compliance Coverage

The Hanksugi HS68 and HS66 are the only models in the USA lineup that carry EPA SmartWay verification. Both are warranted to maintain their SmartWay-certified rolling resistance performance throughout the original tread life of the tire. This means that a SmartWay verified HS68 or HS66 will deliver the fuel efficiency benefits associated with SmartWay certification from the first mile to the last mile of the original tread.

SmartWay verification is not a marketing label. It is an independent, third-party certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency confirming that a tire has been tested on standardized laboratory equipment and meets specific rolling resistance thresholds. For fleets that participate in the SmartWay Transport Partnership, using SmartWay verified tires across all wheel positions contributes to their overall SmartWay performance score, which can be a competitive advantage when bidding on freight contracts from environmentally conscious shippers.

Hanksugi's SmartWay compliance warranty means that if testing reveals an HS68 or HS66 is not delivering the rolling resistance performance specified at the time of certification due to a manufacturing defect in the compound or construction, the tire is covered under the workmanship warranty. This provides fleet managers with confidence that the fuel savings they expect from SmartWay tires will be realized throughout the entire service life of the tire.

The Hanksugi models carrying SmartWay verification are: HS68 and HS66.

Warranty FAQ

Common questions about Hanksugi tire warranty coverage, claim procedures, and retread guarantees.

What does the Hanksugi tire warranty cover?

The Hanksugi tire warranty covers manufacturing defects in workmanship and materials, and casing integrity issues that prevent retreading under normal operating conditions. Coverage begins on the date of purchase and extends for five years.

Does Hanksugi warranty cover retreaded tires?

Hanksugi guarantees that all casings sold in the USA and Latin America are retreadable for at least 2 retread cycles, and casings sold in Canada are guaranteed for 3 retreads. If a casing fails inspection at a qualified retread facility before reaching its guaranteed retread count, and the failure is due to a manufacturing defect rather than abuse or damage, the casing warranty applies.

How do I file a Hanksugi tire warranty claim?

To file a warranty claim, retain the tire and contact your authorized Hanksugi dealer or reach out to Hanksugi USA directly at +1 (561) 340-9030 or juan@hanksugi.com. You will need to provide proof of purchase, the tire serial number (DOT code), photos of the defect or casing condition, and vehicle maintenance records including alignment and inflation logs. A Hanksugi representative will evaluate the claim and provide a determination, typically within 5 to 10 business days.

What voids the Hanksugi tire warranty?

The warranty is voided by tire abuse including overloading beyond rated capacity, operating at incorrect inflation pressure, mechanical damage from road hazards such as nails or curb strikes, improper mounting or dismounting, use on vehicles with faulty alignment or suspension, chemical or petroleum exposure, tire spinning or burnouts, and any modification or repair not performed by a qualified tire professional.

Are SmartWay verified Hanksugi tires covered under the same warranty?

Yes. The SmartWay verified Hanksugi models, HS68 and HS66, carry the same comprehensive warranty as every other Hanksugi model. SmartWay verification is an EPA fuel efficiency certification and does not alter the warranty terms. The rolling resistance performance of HS68 and HS66 is additionally covered under the workmanship warranty, meaning the tire will deliver fuel efficiency as specified throughout its service life.
